Multiplication Tables Check · Speed drill
MTC practice test
Try independent official-format MTC practice: three practice questions, then 25 scored questions. There are six seconds per question and three-second pauses between questions.
Scored questions cover tables 2–12, with extra weight on 6, 7, 8, 9 and 12 to build recall. A separate relaxed 150-second drill covers tables 1–12, with no per-question cutoff.
Choose official-format practice for three practice questions followed by 25 scored questions, or the separate relaxed 150-second drill covering tables 1–12. Type the answer and hit Enter. Your time appears once every scored or relaxed question is answered.
Parent questions
- What happens in official-format MTC practice?
- There are three practice questions followed by 25 scored questions. Each question allows six seconds for an answer, then a non-editable three-second pause before the next question.
- Is Plus Times the official Multiplication Tables Check?
- No. This independent practice follows the published MTC assessment framework, but it is not the official DfE service and is not operated by or affiliated with the Department for Education. The fixed examples 1 × 2, 1 × 5 and 1 × 10 are ours; the official practice set is not published.
- Which tables appear in the scored questions?
- Scored questions cover tables 2–12, with extra weight on the 6, 7, 8, 9 and 12 times tables, following the ranges in the published assessment framework.
- Can my child practise without a six-second cutoff?
- Yes. The separate relaxed 150-second drill asks 25 questions across tables 1–12 with no per-question cutoff, while keeping the two modes and their best scores separate.
